The System
What comes with a WunderDeck
A WunderDeck is one system, not a list of parts to choose from: drainage, a finished ceiling, and a watertight seal, installed together under your existing deck. Homeowners sometimes call this underdecking — whatever you call it, here's what's actually involved.
Under Deck Drainage Systems
Rain and snowmelt that falls through the gaps in an elevated deck gets captured by a drainage system installed beneath the boards, then carried to a gutter and downspout — away from the space below. This is the core of every WunderDeck and the highest-demand reason homeowners reach out.
Under Deck Ceilings
A finished ceiling installs under the joists, hiding the structure above and giving the space below a clean, finished look. We install the Inside Out system by Quality Edge — the difference between 'the area under the deck' and an actual room.
Under Deck Waterproofing & Retrofits
Already have a deck that leaks or drips onto the patio below? The same system retrofits onto an existing deck — we don't require a new build to make the space underneath dry.

FAQ
Common questions
What is an under deck drainage system? +
It's a system installed underneath an elevated deck that captures rain and snowmelt falling through the deck boards and routes it to a gutter and downspout, instead of dripping onto whatever's below.
Does this only work on new decks? +
No — a WunderDeck installs under your existing deck's joists. Most of our work is on decks that are already built, including retrofits where water has been a problem for years.
What happens to the water once it's captured? +
It's channeled through the drainage system to a gutter, then a downspout, and directed away from the space underneath — the same way a roof gutter protects the ground below it.
Will the ceiling look finished, or will I still see the joists? +
The ceiling installs under the joists and hides the structure above, so the space reads as a finished room, not 'under a deck.'
Can I add lighting or a fan? +
Yes — recessed lighting and ceiling fans are common upgrades installed into the finished ceiling as part of the same project.
